Having moved to the U.K. from the U.S., listening to the radio is, of course, a different cultural experience. It's funny how one becomes more aware of what one was used to once that is no longer being experienced. For example, on the radio, I was used to hearing certain jingles, both for radio stations themselves, as well as for their sponsors. I was so used to them, that I'm only now-in their absence-becoming aware of how engrained they were. Both radio and TV have some long-running jingles that almost everyone knows. For instance, the jingle for Empire Carpet, more recently known as Empire Today, in the States, is pretty well known. Other companies, like Coca Cola change the musical aspects of their advertising over time, so then the songs one remembers depends on one's generation. I remember one Coke advert from 1971, when I was a child, that was truly beautiful. In fact I even remember the first time I heard and saw it on TV, that's how strong its appeal was. It's the one that includes the words, "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony…." If you've never heard it, I actually recommend it!

The satellite radio service Sirius buckled under pressure as negative response to the monopoly satellite radio service provider's removal of BBC 1 from its repertoire increased.
Hardly a week after it replaced BBC 1, Sirius XM, the satellite radio broadcaster, declared the channel's return, but in a half-hearted manner. BBC 1 will now be available on satellite radio, but only online.
Who asked the satellite radio service to remove the channel, why did it do so, why did it not inform customers beforehand and general lack of transparency, such things have irked customers against Sirius XM's sloppy customer care.
Fans of the said channel said they were not amused and would continue their agitation against the satellite radio provider until something concrete is not done.
